Ambigram Generator is an independent site for making rotational ambigrams: words that read the same, or read a second word, when you turn them upside down.

How the generator works

Each of the 10 styles is built from an open-source typeface. For every pair of letters, the generator joins one letter with the other turned upside down, tries dozens of sizes and positions, and keeps the version a letter-recognition model reads best in both directions. All 351 letter pairs are prepared in advance, so your ambigram appears as soon as you type, and the styles are sorted by how readable your particular word turns out.

The typefaces are Texturina, Grenze Gotisch, EB Garamond, Libre Baskerville, Playfair Display, Cormorant Garamond, Josefin Sans, Quicksand, Comfortaa and Great Vibes, all released under the SIL Open Font License. We use their lighter weights, because thin strokes stay clean where two letters overlap.
